Raised alongside the idyllic coastline of Palm Beach County, Ashley Carson moved to New York City in 2014 to nationally launch her namesake label. However, it wasn't until summer of 2016 that Ashley decided to step away from all other sources of income and focus on building the line.
Design came as second nature to Ashley, who began hand-crafting pieces at jewelry parties with friends as an excuse to laugh, drink good wine and express her artistic disposition. Delving further into the world of jewelry design, Ashley learned about stones and metals and took a particular interest in the enduring properties of 14k gold filled materials. After months of being constantly approached on the street while wearing her designs and scrawling her details on cocktail napkins, Ashley turned her unexpected ability into a brand.
Drawn to the aesthetics of her ocean roots and her home in New York, both cities provide a constant source of artistic inspiration for Ashley. Her pieces tend toward timeless design, marrying modern simplicity with a hint of bohemian. Delicate yet striking, each piece of Ashley Carson’s fine jewelry is hand-crafted to be personal, sentimental, original and transition effortlessly from day to night.
Since her transition last summer of fully embracing her entrepreneurial spirit, the line began gaining attentive momentum almost immediately. Within three weeks of Ashley quitting her job, she landed a vendor agreement with Equinox fitness clubs, and a week later was surprised to see one of her pieces on Hailey Baldwin in People Magazine's "Love It Or Leave It." A few weeks to follow, the line was styled in a story for Esquire Magazine, featuring A Bikini A Day bloggers, Natasha Oakley and Devin Brugman. The story was also picked up by Cosmopolitan Magazine. The line continues its momentum and with boutiques all over the country interested, it is now carried in BLVD of Manhattan Beach, CA., XY Atelier NYC, and Pinnacle boutique in Malibu, CA.
As Ashley had developed the line for her own personal style, the pieces tend to be delicate, designed to layer, giving a variety from simplicity to statement. When Ashley first began making jewelry, she was working with gold plated, and found it quick to chip and tarnish. She made the switch to 14k gold filled materials and hasn't looked back.
If you're wondering about the names of the pieces, most are named after songs. In her journey in building the line, Ashley learned to stay focused, and also moved into her creative process by way of her headphones and playlist, blocking out the many audible distractions in NYC. Each song has some sort of sentiment to Ashley in the development of the line. The Spring Summer 2017 Collection is named after songs by the late David Bowie, Prince, and George Michael. 2016 was a tragic year for the music industry, with the loss of such icons, and we hope to remember and pay tribute to these legendary artists in our delicate jewelry we dress ourselves in.
